ARTISTS BIO:
Emily Johnston
I am married with one adult son, three adult grandchildren and two great grandbabies.
I am a graduate of Furman University. Worked twice towards my masters but found it too difficult to finish due to family matters and my work.
Have worked in many fields before becoming an elementary school teacher. I have taught elementary education at Alexander Elementary, Duncan Chapel Elementary and Berea Elementary Schools.
After retiring from Greenville County School District, I began my quest on learning to paint. At first, I used only acrylic paint but later found oil paint more enjoyable with better results. Painting is something that I have tried throughout my life but had little time to pursue.
I’ve had the opportunity to take painting lessons with Tom Presnell and Tom Flowers at Furman but basically have learned on my own using trial and error. My most enjoyable painting moments have come from working on seascapes but I also enjoy painting landscapes with mountain streams and meadows with old barns.
