Artist Statement
Each of our personal histories is a compilation of stories. My pieces tell their own story through the many layers and textures, building character and meaning. Using fragments of ephemera, I piece together a narrative of a single moment. It is up to the viewer to determine how the story begins and ends.
Artist Bio
Suzanne loves a good story. Listening to, writing about, and expressing stories through her art is what makes her smile. She grew up in a small Midwestern town with 7 siblings which created a lot of fodder for good stories, often repeated at family events. She is also a collector, some say hoarder, of nostalgic and vintage ephemera. Putting together her love of the discarded with the beauty of a story telling makes for a creative combination.
Attending college in Minnesota, Suzanne earned a degree in Graphic Design. While traveling abroad she landed a job in Massachusetts where she lived for 25 years. During her time in the Northeast Suzanne enjoyed a successful career as a business analyst in several business sectors, but always dabbled in art. After moving with her husband to South Carolina, she is now able to focus on her art full time. As a mixed media artist, no supplies are off limits, but Suzanne primarily uses acrylic paint and mediums as a basis for all her work.
